James Ibori released from UK prison, re-arrested •He’s yet to be released —Media office

FORMER governor of Delta State, James Ibori, has completed his prison terms in the United Kingdom (UK), but the embattled politician is yet to regain freedom as he was immediately re-arrested.

Ibori was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment in April 2012 by a Southwark Crown Court in London.

He was said to have been released on January 22, having completed his jail term.

It was learnt that Ibori was re-arrested to face another charge, which borders on the confiscation of his ill-gotten assets, estimated to be about £250 million pounds.

But the media office of Ibori denied the story, saying he was yet to be released.

“Please disregard the story making the round about Ibori’s release or re-arrest. He has not been released so he could not have been arrested.”
