Fele, NURTW boss, escapes robbery attack in Ibadan

THE South West chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde (Fele), was on, Thursday night, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, attacked by unknown gunmen suspected to be armed robbers.
Speaking on the incident, Oyerinde, who is also the chairman of NURTW in Oyo State, he said that policemen attached to him repelled the attack by the men who came in two Audi cars around 8:33 p.m.
It was the second time in nine months that such an attack had occurred, he said.

It was gathered that Magu’s rejection by the Senate was not also only because of his insistence on pressing criminal charges against some of the senators.

Mother, 2 children, 4 others killed in Maiduguri suicide bomb attack

The Borno Police Command on Sunday confirmed the death of four persons after an attempt by some suspected suicide bombers to infiltrate Maiduguri in Borno.
Mr Victor Isuku, the spokesman of the command said in a statement in Maiduguri that three bombers had attempted to infiltrate Maiduguri at about 9.00 p.m. on Saturday.
“At about 2100hrs of Saturday, three suicide bombers, a male and two female, attempted to infiltrate Maiduguri town through Umarari village in Molai general area.

FG will protect, reward whistle-blowers – Lai Mohammed


The Federal Government will protect and reward whistle-blowers who provide information that leads to the recovery of stolen funds or assets, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has reiterated. In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday, the Minister said the Federal Government will protect the identity of all whistle-blowers, whether in the public or the private sector, and also ensure that the information they provide is kept secret.

ABUJA-President Mohammadu Buhari has received a written communication believed to be the report of the Senate on the rejection of Ibrahim Magu as nominee for the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Ibrahim Magu It was learnt that the communication was forwarded by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
