CBN gives customers BVN reprieve

CBN gives customers BVN reprieve
Customers yesterday got a breather on the Bank Verification Number (BVN), with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) directing banks to ensure their uninterrupted enrolment on the platform.
In a statement signed by its Director (Corporate Communications) Ibrahim Mu’azu, the CBN said although the time frame for the initial enrolment had elapsed, the exercise should go on indefinitely.
The BVN, which captures bank customers’ biometric data, such as  fingerprints, provides unique identification for them and equally protects their accounts from unauthorised access, identity theft and fraud.
Customers who are yet to register are required to do so to avoid restrictions on their accounts.
“Account holders who are yet to obtain their BVN are enjoined to visit their banks and do the registration. There are two steps to the BVN process. The first step is to obtain a BVN while the second step requires the account holder to link the BVN with his or her bank account(s),” he said.
Mu’azu said an individual could enroll for a BVN without necessarily having a bank account. Such individual can then submit the acquired BVN at any bank he/she wishes to open an account.
He said linking BVN to bank accounts is now a one-stop-shop which enables account holders to register and link their BVN to their accounts in one location, irrespective of the banks in which they have their accounts. All these are aimed at making the process as seamless as possible.
“The BVN is neither a payment instrument nor an account number and therefore cannot be used to access any account by unauthorised users,” Mu’azu said.

My exit from EFCC, an act of God – Lamorde

My exit from EFCC, an act of God - Lamorde
Ibrahim Lamorde
The former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, on Tuesday said his exit from the agency was an act of God.
He said it is ordained for office holders to leave at a stage for others to come in.
He warned the staff of the agency against sabotaging the acting chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
Lamorde, who spoke for eight minutes, left members of the management and staff in pensive mood.
But his inspiring remarks earned him a big applause in the end because he did not betray his emotion.
He said: “It is historic to witness yet another handing over. I will be doing this for the second time because I did a similar one for a former chairman, Mrs. Farida Waziri, in 2008. I will be doing this to a friend and a colleague. Magu has been with the commission since 2003 and we all came back together in 2011.”

House probes Conduct Tribunal Chairman Umar
The House of Representatives is to investigate the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Mr. Danladi Umar, for allegedly misappropriating N16.6million.
The decision of the lawmakers followed a petition on the floor yesterday on corruption against the CCT chairman.
It was presented by the Chairman, House Committee on Army, Shawulu Kwewum, on behalf of the Anti Corruption Network.
After the presentation by the lawmaker, the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, gave him leave to lay the petition before the House, and referred it to the House Committee on Public Petition for further investigation.
Kwewum, presenting the petition before the House, alleged that ex-Minister of Justice and Attorney- General of the Federation Mohammed Adoke recommended that two persons be arrested and investigated for alleged corruption.
He said one person, Ali Gambo Abdullahi, was arrested and prosecuted in compliance with the recommendation of the former attorney-general and the other person, the present chairman of the CCT, was not arrested.
According to the allegations in the petition, the CCT chairman was accused of fictitious contract for the supply of office furniture and fitting in the sum of N11.4 million, misappropriated N4.2million for external light bulbs and N1million for his wedding.
Kwewum said: “The petitioner wants the House to wade into the matter to ensure that the second person, Mr. Danladi, is arrested and made to face the law in compliance with the recommendations of the ex-attorney-general and minister of Justice.”
The Public Accounts Committee in the House has promised to raise the bar in checking financial impunity in public and private institutions.
The committee Chairman, Kingsley Chinda, at the inaugural meeting of the committee, said no institution, public or private, would be spared if found wanting in the utilisation of public funds.
He said: “Crime has no time limit. When you mismanage public fund, you commit a crime.
“We will dig them up and forward them to the House where a final decision will be taken.
“If you’re not doing what you ought to do in any office, this committee will not hesitate to forward the report to the entire House.
“We assure Nigerians that it will not be business as usual for the MDAs when it comes to public funds.”

Meet This 64-Year-Old Virgin | Photo

64-year-old Ngipheni Ngcobo has never had any s*xual experience. The unusual virgin always takes part in the annual Zulu reed dance for virgins at the Nyokeni palace in South Africa. The South African woman recently participated in the recent Swazi dance for virgins with other young girls.
From the sight, Ngipheni is old to be the grandmother of these young girls who danced with their breasts bare. Aside from being a virgin, Ngipheni works as a school vendor.
The reed dance was started by King Goodwill Zwelithini in 1984 in order to make girls abstain from premarital s*x. She has however not missed any edition since she started attending.
When asked about relationship, the beautiful virgin ho looks two decades younger than her real age said that she was once in love about 20 years ago. Her man had even paid ilobolo (marriage interest price) on her behalf but she told herself she can never be in love anymore when she caught her man with another woman.
She said: “In our days our fiances never rushed us into having s*x. They respected us. I separated with my fiance because he cheated. We had been seeing each other for 10 years, but we had never had s*x. When I found out he was having an affair with another man’s wife, that was it for me. Maybe I would have understood if it had been just another girl, but did he have to do it with a woman who was married?
“Before we go to the ceremony, our guardians test us to make sure that we are still virgins. This is because the ceremony is only for virgins.”
She is said to be an influence to all young girls in South Africa. Meanwhile, a woman was spotted recently celebrating staying off s*xual activities for three months. The unidentified 3-month-old celibate took the celebration further by making two beautiful cakes.

Vivica Fox Insinuates Former Boyfriend, 50 Cent Is Gay

Veteran Hollywood actress, Vivica Fox recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live on the night of Sunday 8th of November with Andy Cohen.
The show saw Cohen make reference to some comments that 50 Cent made about the show Empire, Heavy reports.
Fox then “insinuated” that 50 Cent might have a gay side, saying, it was a case of ‘pot calling a kettle black’
and then saying,“He just seems like he’s just got something that’s not so clear.”
Fox also said 50 Cent looked like a booty snatcher on the cover of magazine Vibe, which was actually XXL Magazine.

Cohen’s translation was that when someone protests too much they’re basically hiding something.
And, when asked how she’ll react to the backlash she’ll receive from implying that 50 Cent may be gay, Fox said she doesn’t think there will be much backlash because she speaks the truth.
In an earlier interview with Madam Noire, Fox had opened up about her romantic relationship with 50 Cent, explaining:
“Even though he is absolutely the love of my life, dating 50 Cent was difficult. I really, really cared for him. I loved him very much and I always will, but he just wasn’t right for me. And that’s hard when you really, really love a person in your heart and you want to be with them, but you finally have to say, ‘He’s just not right for me.’ I wish him the best. He is amazing, and baby, he fine, but to just know that if you love someone, to just know that they’re not right for you. Sometimes love ain’t always right. The heart wants what it wants, but sometimes it’s just not right.”
